About this session

Building an inclusive knowledge society is essential to fostering a more literate world. OERs play a key role in this effort by expanding access to high-quality information and learning materials. Libraries — long-standing champions of access and preservation — have embraced OER as a natural extension of their mission to support open knowledge and lifelong learning.

This prerecorded session highlights how select academic libraries in Nigeria are integrating OER into their collections and addressing the unique challenges of preserving these resources. Presenters will share best practices around budgeting for OER initiatives, enhancing discoverability through acquisition strategies, and safeguarding both OER and traditional library collections. Attendees will gain insights into the barriers libraries face in OER preservation and learn strategies to strengthen OER preservation efforts within their own institutions.
